Early Life and Education
Abu Hanifah was born in 8th-century Kufa, which was a major center of learning. At first, he worked as a merchant. However, he later decided to study religion. He learned from many great teachers, including Hammad ibn Abi Sulayman. As a result, their lessons shaped his thinking and approach to law.
The Hanafi School of Thought
Imam Abu Hanifah established the Hanafi school of thought, which is now the most widely followed in the Muslim world. Unlike other scholars, he emphasized reason, fairness, and logic alongside the Quran and Hadith. Because of this, his teachings allowed flexibility while staying true to Islamic principles. Today, the Hanafi school is followed in South Asia, Turkey, and the Middle East.

Throughout his life, Abu Hanifah stood by his beliefs. For example, he refused government jobs to remain independent. The rulers wanted him to work for them, but he firmly said no. As a result, he was arrested. Despite this, he never changed his views and remained steadfast in his principles.

Even after his passing, his influence remained strong. His students, such as Abu Yusuf and Muhammad al-Shaybani, helped spread his teachings across the Islamic world. Because of their efforts, his ideas continue to shape Islamic law and ethics today.
